Thurles Municipal District council will hold it’s February meeting on Monday next.

The nine councillors will have one motion to consider at the meeting.

The Motion, proposed by Cllr Jim Ryan is calling for CCTV and public lighting to be installed in all of Thurles town parks and walkways.

The Cllr says this is necessary due to the recent and worrying increase in attacks on female walkers and joggers.

Council management say that a quotation for the scope of such work has been prepared for the Council by J&N security however as of now no funding stream has been identified to progress the work.

Monday’s meeting will also hear an update from the council’s water and planning sections and receive an update on the pipeline of development projects in the district.

The council will also approve the annual funding allocations to sports groups, residents associations and voluntary groups for 2022.
