The Government has launched a major communications campaign around St. Patrick’s Day.

This will consist of Government ministers going to countries around the world and meeting with their counterparts to promote Ireland worldwide.

13 members of cabinet and 19 out of 20 junior ministers will travel abroad for business around St. Patrick’s Day.

Only three ministers will be staying back – Minister for Heritage and Electoral Reform Malcolm Noonan, Minister Heather Humphries, Social Protection Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney.

These visits are designed to serve three purposes as the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions are lifted.

They aim to promote Ireland abroad, rebuild connections and to support Irish communities abroad.

The goal is to highlight Ireland as a great place to live, work and do business in, as well as study, visit and invest in.

An Taoiseach Micheál Martin will be accompanied by the Attorney General on a visit to Washington DC, the US capital.

Mr Martin will also visit London while the Tánaiste Leo Varadkar will visit Colombia and Chile.

Other ministers will visit parts of the United States, Canada, France, Argentina, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan, South Korea, Mexico and 12 European nations.
