Broader criteria for Covid-19 testing in place

The criteria that would deem a person suitable for Covid-19 testing has changed.

GPs have been informed that from now on the testing criteria has been broadened, meaning that to be eligible for testing a patient does not need to be in an at-risk group, but would need to have sudden onset of cough, fever or shortness of breath.

Yesterday it was confirmed that another 23 more people diagnosed with the virus had died. It brings the total number of fatalities to date to 1,339.

211 more cases of the coronavirus have also been diagnosed in the Republic, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 21,983.

486 cases have been identified in Co Tipperary, while in Co Limerick the number is 585.
