More families informed of lack of school bus places

Bus Éireann has been accused of putting families under undue stress by informing them just two weeks before the school year resumes, that there is no place on the public school bus for their kids.

Councillor Máirín McGrath has been told that a number of pupils from Newcastle to Aherlow, New Inn to Skeheenarinky and Grange to Goatenbridge have been refused tickets for the coming school term.

Despite many of those affected having already paid the appropriate fee, the restrictions laid down by Bus Éireann – including the issue of catchment areas – have resulted in some students now being uncertain how they will travel to school this September.
