A 72-year-old man has been killed just outside Portumna after he was struck by a car as he was cycling on the main Borrisokane to Portumna road this morning.
The incident happened on the N65 around 5 km from Portumna.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
The female driver of the car, who was the sole occupant was uninjured. Gardai in Borrisokane are appealing for witnesses to contact them (067) 27101.
