Co Tipperary TD and Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly has reversed a decision to stop funding health and disability organisations.

It emerged recently that funding to a range of organisations such as Asthma Society of Ireland and the Neurological Alliance of Ireland had been discontinued.

However, upon his appointment as Environment Minister, Mr. Kelly has restored funding to 30 successful applicants to the value of €1.3 million in total.

While announcing the restoration of the financing, he also stressed that the reinstatement of funding is for the next 12 months only.

That year he said must be used to find a more long-term sustainable solution to the funding problems of these organisations.
