An armed man was arrested and an investigation launched following a raid at a service station in Clonmel in the early hours of this morning.
The incident occurred at the Applegreen service station at Greenane in Clonmel at 4.30am.
A man was reported as having left the scene on foot carrying a firearm.
He was subsequently arrested on Sarsfield Street and is now being detained at Clonmel Garda Station under section 30 of the offences against the state act.
Nobody was injured during the incident and Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
