Garda operation aimed at reducing road casualties


Two people have been arrested as part of a garda operation aimed at reducing ther number of road casulties in the South East. 

The operation specifically targeted Thurles and Waterford and was carried out on Sunday.

A series of simultaneous checkpoints were conducted in both urban areas with 149 vehicles passing through the checkpoint in Thurles and 612 in Waterford.

In Thurles 102 drivers were tested and one person was arrested.  In Waterford 392 drivers were tested and agin one person was arrested.
