€17 million funding for Tipperary Roads

Co Tipperary is to benefit from an investment worth over €17 million in its roads.

The funds will go mainly towards the restoration and maintenance of the road network in the county.

In total €17.6 million is being allocated, of which South Tipperary County Council will receive €9.2 million and North Tipperary will get €8.4 million.

According to Junior Transport Minister Alan Kelly the funding will see a number of low cost safety improvement schemes all over the county with roads being improved in Killenaule, Cappawhite, Clonmel, Ballyporeen, Knockavilla and Nenagh.

The funding will also see block maintenance grants going to each town council in the county.

€4 million will also be available to the county councils in the form of discretionary grants to use as they see fit.
