2013 Road Deaths Increase

591

There has been an increase of 28 road fatalities on Irish roads in 2013 compared to the previous year.

The total number of people killed on Irish roads last year was 190. This is the first annual increase in road deaths since 2005.

A lack of Garda reinforcement and resources was a significant part of the reason for this increase according to Mr. Gay Byrne, Chairman of the Irish Road Safety Authority.
