A call has been made to end what has been described as a recent escalation in the withdrawl of medical cards from the elderly and sick.
South Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath complained that he had been contacted by a number of people who were finding it difficult to fill out forms to renew their medical cards after being required to reapply for them.
He said the application process is proving distressing for many and has accused the government and the HSE of actively pursuing a dangerous and savage policy of withdrawing medical cards from some of the sickest people in our society.
