Templemore Garda training college could soon see new recruits, but the Justice Minister, while renewing his promise to resume garda recruitment has failed to give a timeframe for the process.
Minister Alan Shatter has said that he is in negotiations with the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin, to hire new Gardaí. He wants the force to remain above 13,000.
A previous promise to begin recruiting was given by the Minister in April. However, that was delayed following the rejection of the revised public sector pay deal
