Hospital of Assumption Thurles

The Hospital of the Assumption Action Group in Thurles has been critical of the way local government TD’s have handled the campaign to reinstate beds at the facility.

Responding to a decision announced by the HSE to reinstate a number of beds at the hospital, campaigners say the amount to be reopened is far below the number they say was promised.

They have also accused politicians of confusing the perception of how many additional beds were being made available by engaging in spin.

Responding this morning Fine Gael Td Noel Coonan said that while the number of beds to be reopened is far short of the number wanted, he remains committed to getting all 22 bed that have been closed in recent times reinstated.
