South Tipperary General Hospital has been accused of systematic failure by the family of a woman whose lung cancer was only detected after her death.

It was heard during an inquest into the death of Teresa Doyle from Carrick on Suir that she died from a rare lung cancer that can be difficult to detect.  However, the inquest was also told that doctors informed her family that cancer was not on the radar when they asked if it was a possibility.

The family said that they were not interested in taking a negligence case against the hospital but wanted to ensure the same never happens to someone else.
