The Mayor of Clonmel has been appointed a place on the board of the Irish Red Cross by Justice Minister Alan Shatter.
The Irish Red Cross has, in recent years been faced with allegations of financial irregularities. However, speaking this morning, Cllr Darren Ryan (Lab.), who was involved in drawing up a new constitution for the organisation, said that it is being reformed and that the minister’s appointments are evidence of that.
