The results of tests which will decide whether houses in South Tipperary, currently without a water supply due to contamination will see their supply reinstated, will be released by the end of the week.

It emerged recently that a number of houses in the Ballinalard, Clonpet and Brensha areas outside Tipperary Town found a tar like substance in their water supply causing major concern.

Since the initial report, a number of homes have had their water supply reinstated but a number still remain without a supply.

Speaking to Tipp Mid West Radio this morning, South Tipp County Council’s Aidan Fennessey said test results which are expected to be released towards the end of the week will determine if the supply to the remaining houses is now clear of contamination.
