Over €77,000 Funding For Local Festivals & Events Approved

Over €77,000 in Funding for Festivals and Events in the Tipp Cahir Cashel Municipal District in 2024 was approved by councillors at Monday’s meeting.

The council says all applicants will be contacted and any funds not being used will be re-allocated as soon as possible.

The fund supports events at two levels – Community and the higher Municipal level.

A total of 46 community events shared a total of €33,550 with grants awarded ranging in size from €200 for Cahir Community Alert to €2,000 for Cashel St Patrick day celebrations.

The larger Municipal Grants will support 10 events with an overall allocation of €43,800 –the grants range from €1,500 to the Tipperary Music Festival to €14,000 for the Cashel Arts Festival – Tipperary town St Patrick’s day event secured €7,500 while Ballyporeen Community Council secured €4,000 for it’s Ballyporeen Music Maker Festival.

Rathkeevin Macra was also awarded €4,000 while the Cahir TradFest secured €3,300. The Sean Treacy Commemorative Festival was awarded €3,000.

Forty two Tidy towns groups were allocated a total of €57, 850 in the Tipperary Cahir Cashel District to support their work in 2024.

Each of the three towns, Cahir, Cashel and Tipperary were allocated €5,000, Ardfinnan secured €2,200 and 38 oher groups shared Tidy Towns Grants ranging from €500 to €1,200.
