529

Tipp Mid West Radio is to broadcast three events as part of it’s coverage of the Easter Ceremonies at St Michael’s Church in Tipperary town.
The broadcasts include Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7pm on Holy Thursday, The Solemn Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3pm on Good Friday and the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday March 30th. The Mass will commence at 7.30pm and those attending are asked to be in place from 7.15pm onwards as the Easter Fire will be lit in the church grounds at approximately 7pm.
Parish Priest Fr Eugene Everard says Easter Week is a journey for people of faith and is most appreciative of the efforts of so many in the Church Community for their contributions to the Easter Ceremonies. Fr Everard is assisted by Fr John Beatty and by Killian Heney from Knockavilla. Killian will be ordained as a Deacon on April 28th at Michael’s and then as a priest later this year.
St. John’s Famine Graveyard is to host the Stations of the Cross on Friday morning at 11am – Fr Everard paid tribute to the local Committee for organising the ceremony annually. A new initiative this year will see a special event on Good Friday evening at 7.30pm in St Michael’s. Prayer around the Cross is a reflection on what the True Cross means in our everyday lives.
On Holy Saturday Confessions will be held in St Michael’s church between 2.30pm and 4.00pm.
As the Easter Vigil Mass will commence at 7.30pm there will not be any 6pm Mass on Saturday March 30th. On Easter Sunday morning Mass will be celebrated at 9.30am and at 11.30am. Clocks will go forward one hour on Saturday night to accommodate the annual change to Daylight Savings time. Mass goers are reminded to take this into account if intending to attend Mass on Sunday.
Members of the Legion of Mary have prepared some bottles of Easter Water for Collection in St Michael’s and members of the public can also bring their own containers to collect the Holy Water which is blessed on Holy Thursday.
The Cashel Union of Parishes comprising five active Church of Ireland Parish churches will also Celebrate Easter Ceremonies.
The Cathedral Church of St. John the Baptist & St. Patrick’s Rock, John Street, Cashel will mark Maudy Thursday with Holy Communion and the stripping of the Altar at 8pm. The Church of Ireland community will hold two Reflections around the Cross on Good Friday – St Mary’s Tipperary town at 3pm and in Cashel at 8pm.
