Limerick Woman Elaine Houlihan To Become Next President Of Macra

A Limerick woman is to become the next President of Macra. Nominations closed on Wednesday and the only nominee is current Munster Vice President Elaine Houlihan.  Ms Houlihan is from Athlacca, Co. Limerick and her home club is based in Kilmallock Macra.

Elaine, who is a physiotherapist, comes from a beef enterprise and family run agricultural engineering business. Elaine is the current Munster Vice-President within Macra and she will be declared as President elect on the 5th April 2023. Elaine will take over as the 39th President of Macra from John Keane on May 13th at the 2023 AGM.

Ms Houlihan says she is excited to  lead one of the most vibrant rural organisations in Ireland.  Macra was the first and only national farming body to elect a female president – Catherine Buckley held office in 2007- 2009.
