Dates For Christmas & New Year Payments Revealed

Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys has set out the details of the Christmas and New Year payment dates.

Minister Humphreys says some payment dates will change during the Christmas and New Year period.

Any person receiving a weekly social welfare payment, will get their payment as usual during the week commencing Monday 18^th December, and an advanced payment for the following week. This applies to payments made at post offices, by cheque or directly into the recipient’s financial institution account.

Payments due on December 18^th, 19^th, 20^th, 21^st and 22^nd will receive a double payment covering the weeks commencing December 18^th and 25^th. Payments due on December 23^rd, 24^th or 25^th will be made on December 22^nd. Payments due on January 1^st will be made on December 29^th.

Persons leaving the state over the Christmas period and in receipt of income support from the Department of Social Protection are required to notify the Department of their absence in advance of travel.

All department offices, including INTREO Centres and Branch offices, will be closed on Monday December 25^th, Tuesday December 26^th and Monday January 1^st 2024.
