Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys has set out the details of the Christmas and New Year payment dates.
Minister Humphreys says some payment dates will change during the Christmas and New Year period.
Any person receiving a weekly social welfare payment, will get their payment as usual during the week commencing Monday 18th December, and an advanced payment for the following week. This applies to payments made at post offices, by cheque or directly into the recipient’s financial institution account.
Payments due on December 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd will receive a double payment covering the weeks commencing December 18th and 25th. Payments due on December 23rd, 24th or 25th will be made on December 22nd. Payments due on January 1st will be made on December 29th.
Persons leaving the state over the Christmas period and in receipt of income support from the Department of Social Protection are required to notify the Department of their absence in advance of travel.
All department offices, including INTREO Centres and Branch offices, will be closed on Monday December 25th, Tuesday December 26th and Monday January 1st 2024.
