The ABP food group has secured the first deal to supply beef to the US since a 15-year ban was lifted a year ago.
The food group, which operates plants in Cahir and Nenagh will source beef to Sysco New York and Sysco Boston.
The agreement is valued at up to €15 million per year and the first shipments are expected to commence in March.

The beef will be supplied initially to steak houses and restaurants.
The Agriculture Minister Simon Conveny has said that he expects this announcement to be the first many such deals for Irish companies.
