There are now 15,873 people unemployed in the county which is an increase on June's figures. However its over 1,400 less than the same period last year.

Regional figures released by the Central Statistics Office show that the number of people seeking some form of unemployment benefit rose in all areas of the county in July with the exception of Cashel where the register was reduced by just one person.

Thurles had the largest increase with 109 extra people on the live register and Tipperary town's figures rose by 42.
