Investment May Save Flancare Jobs

The jobs that have been under threat at Flancare Clonmel Distribution may be saved following an undisclosed investment in the troubled company, by a fruit and vegetable distributor.

A provisional liquidator was appointed to Flancare last month.

The new investor is fruit and veg distributor Total Produce.  The company bought a 50% stake in the business.

It is expected that the investor will operate from the company’s Clonmel and Longford premises.

In a statement released at the time of the announcement, Total Produce said that it hopes the decision will secure the jobs of the 200 people in Longford and Clonmel.

The former owners of Flancare, it is believed, will hold on to the remaining 50% stake in the company.
