Tipperary Farm Receives Highest Payment From Department Of Agriculture In The Country

A Tipperary business received the highest Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) direct payment in the country in 2022.  Artemis Farms received a direct payment totalling almost €236,000.  The business is involved in “support activities for animal production” and is owned by Artemis Farming Enterprises Limited, which lists Patricia Hickey of Clogheen, Cahir, as the sole director. Its principal activity is listed as “educational support activities”.

The Department of Agriculture has released details of the payments made to farmers across the country. Potato and carrot grower O’Shea Farms Unlimited, based in Piltown, Co Kilkenny, received a direct payment of almost €223,000 while third on the list was Godolphin Ireland Limited, which received a payment of €220,000 in 2022. Based in Kildare, its farm at Kildangan Stud extends to almost 1,500ac.

Farmers in Cork, Louth, Kerry and Meath complete the top ten with the tenth highest sum paid being almost €196,000 in direct financial support. This financial support is additional to revenue earned by the farmers involved from the sale of their produce.
