Tipperary householders are being urged to bring their batteries, electrical, and electronic waste to a set of free collection days to help the county meet national e-waste recycling targets for 2024.
The North Tipperary collection days hosted by WEEE Ireland in partnership with ALDI, begin next week on Tuesday, April 9th, at ALDI Nenagh, followed by collection days at ALDI Thurles on April 11th and at the Roscrea store on Thursday April 18th.
Anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled for free on the day, including old washing machines, TVs, toasters and kettles, electronic tools and toys, cables, IT equipment, mobile phones, remote controls, batteries, including farm fence batteries, and even watches.
A similar series of events is being held in South Tipperary beginning today at ALDI Cashel.
Further collection days are planned for Cahir on April 4th, Carrick On Suir April 16th, Clonmel on April 18th and Tipperary town on April 25th.
The public can bring electrical material for recycling and each collection day will run between 10am and 4pm.
In Tipperary, and across Ireland, people purchased an average of 25kg of electrical items per head in 2023 – however only 8.8kg of e-waste was recycled per person in Tipperary last year – falling short of the national average of 10.33kg per person.
