Business rate payers in county Tipperary will soon be able to apply for financial support as part of the new €257M Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) Grant.
Tipperary County Council, funded through the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE), will manage the rollout of the grant to qualifying businesses. The grant was first mentioned in the Budget announced in October 2023.
Eligible businesses will receive a once-off grant payment with a maximum payment set at €5,000.
Businesses with a rates bill of over €30,000 are not eligible for the grant which is intended to aid businesses but is not intended to directly compensate for all increases in wages, or other costs, for every business.
An online system is now being developed to manage the submission of essential information.
Tipperary County Council says it will write shortly to businesses with further details, including how to register and how to submit information online.
The system is expected to be available in mid-March.
The closing date for businesses to confirm eligibility and to upload verification details will be 1st May 2024.
Queries can be made to Tipperary County Council at 0818 065000 or by email at [email protected].
Businesses with outstanding balances on their rates are advised to engage with the council to clarify steps that can be taken to ensure compliance with the scheme.
