Councillors at the Tipp Cahir Cashel MD meeting yesterday considered a motion from Cllr Andy Moloney seeking a detailed report on the progress of the Cashel to Cahir Cycleway.
The meeting was informed that the informal public consultation which closed on January 19th received 65 submissions. This is phase one of the project and officially described as the Concept and Feasibility stage.
The consultation sought public feedback on a wide study area that extended east west from New Inn to Golden – many advocates of the project had expected that the existing roadway, the former N8 between Cashel and Cahir, would be the route for the cycleway. The project consultants, Fehily Timoney & Company, are now reviewing the submissions and working on compiling the Feasibility Report.
Tipperary County Council hopes to submit the report to Transport Infrastructure Ireland for it’s consideration by the end of March 2024.
The project was recently allocated €80,000 to take the project to final route selection with possibly 4 route options to be presented to the public.
