Details Announced For The Tipperary Town St Patrick’s Day Parade

1333

The Tipperary town St Patrick’s Day parade will take place on Saturday March 16th at 11am.  The parade will include a several hundred strong marching band from Missouri University. It is understood that the US Band asked to march in Tipperary town as the song “It’s a long way to Tipperary” is their favourite march.  The band  will march in the Dublin parade on March 17th

The organising Committee say they decided to host the St Patrick’s Day Parade on the 16th as they did not wish to miss the opportunity of having the US band in the parade and that there would not be enough volunteers to run two events. Tipperary St Patricks day committee also felt the event would be an excellent opportunity to bring people to the town centre on what is a normal shopping day & encourage people to visit some of the fantastic shops and services in the town. Some retailers are critical of the date and time for the event and some members of the community are critical of the move from the traditional date of March 17th .

The Tipperary town St Patrick’s Day parade committee is in collaboration with Cllr Anne Marie Ryan, the Tipperary Revitalisation Task Force and The CJ Kickham band to organise the parade. The committee says full details will be announced in the coming days and issued an invitation for clubs and societies and groups in Tipperary town and the wider area to join the event.  Interested parties can contact the parade committee via their Facebook page or by email to [email protected]

There is an opportunity for all interested to have an active role in their community according to the Committee.
