The National Ambulance Service(NAS) is rolling out a nationwide campaign to register every publicly accessible automated External Defibrillator.
The NAS is to identify and verify the condition of AEDs in every community and log their location on a map.
The intention is that Emergency Call Takers will be able to tell the caller of the AED’s location in the event of it being identified as being nearby during an appropriate 112/999 call.
Staff from the NAS will be visiting known locations of AEDs in Tipperary Town today and tomorrow to advise on the registration of AED devices and to check on the maintenance of the batteries & pads.
NAS personnel will also check on where and how the device is stored at each building. The project is being run in collaboration with the Tipperary Community Services Centre.
