Investigation Launches Into Suspect Arson Attack On Former School In Fethard

Gardaí have launched an investigation into a suspected arson attack in respect of the fire in Fethard last night at the former Patrician primary school on Rocklow Road.

The property is located adjacent to the current primary school.

Three fire units from Cashel and Clonmel Fire stations attended the fire which was reported shortly after 9pm.

No Injuries were reported.

It is understood significant damage was caused to the building which has been left idle for at least 10 years.

The property is owned by the parish and the building is said to have been in poor condition.

Gardaí say they are investigating the cause of the fire and are treating it as suspected “criminal damage”. The scene has been preserved by Gardaí to allow for forensic investigators to examine the scene today.
