Tipp Town Vacant Building To Be Used For Temporary Venue For Art Classes

A vacant building in the centre of Tipperary town is to be used as temporary venue for arts classes as part of the Creative Places Programme. The former retail outlet, situated on Main Street, and  known as Wellworths closed earlier this year when the owners retired.

Two arts clubs are to operate at the venue over the next three Wednesdays – the work will be led by two artists.  A family arts club is to be provided from 3.30pm until 5pm and then an adults or over 18 years arts club will be offered between 6 and 7.30pm.

The event is funded by the Creative Places Programme and no advance booking is required.

The organisers say the Family Arts Club is for children and adults of all ages. Parents, grandparents, caregivers, children and young people will work together experimenting with art materials and using their imaginations. The event is suitable for children aged 3 and older.

One adult must accompany a child or children, with a maximum of 3 children per adult.

Arts Club for Adults is for anyone who is interested in arts, crafts and creativity in a social setting. The three introductory workshops will explore a range of mediums and techniques with a different artist leading each week. Techniques offered include collage, sculpture, animation, printmaking and drama.

The organisers say no experience or skill is necessary and there will be no such thing as “bad art”!

Wednesdays at Wellworths is a new activity that is part of Creative Places Tipperary Town, a project that aims to get more  people involved in creative arts activities.
