South Tipp Broadcaster Inducted Into Radio Hall Of Fame

An RTE broadcaster from South Tipperary is to be inducted into the IMRO Radio Award Hall of Fame.

Mary Wilson joined RTE’s local radio service in Cork in 1989, later moving to the national broadcaster newsroom room in Dublin a year later.

Ms Wilson has won multiple awards for her news and documentary coverage.

The committee says the Mary is renowned for her incisive journalism and unwavering dedication to truth in broadcasting.

Since its initiation, the award stands as a beacon of excellence in the realm of Irish radio.

The other 2023 inductees include:

  • John Bennett MBE from BBC Radio Ulster , whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the broadcasting landscape.
  • Joe Finnegan from Shannonside FM Northern Sound FM is celebrated for his captivating voice and compelling storytelling.
  • Paddy Halpenny, formerly of Communicorp, whose leadership and vision have been instrumental in shaping the direction of Irish radio.

The annual Hall of Fame ceremony will take place at the IMRO office in Dublin this Wednesday.
