An event planned for Thurles this evening has been cancelled. The Tipperary Green Business Network had scheduled an evening event to examine the means of reducing food waste to be held at the Anner Hotel today. The event was intended as part of National Food Waste Recycling Week, which runs until June 11th. In Ireland, there are approximately 800,000 tonnes of food waste each year, according to current best estimates. New legislation will come into effect on January 1st 2024 that will see every household have the option to use a brown bin for food waste disposal.
The organisers say the event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond their control. It is hoped to reschedule the event in the future. Further information can be found on the website tgbn.ie.
