Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill is welcoming funding of €1.3 million for primary and special schools in the county.
A total of €29 million has been allocated for schools nationwide by the Department of Education for maintenance and small-scale improvements to school buildings and grounds.
This funding provides flexibility for school management to address issues at local school level and may be used for the improvement or replacement of mechanical and electrical services, the purchase of standard furniture and physical education equipment, the purchase of floor coverings and window blinds and the purchase of IT related equipment.
Deputy Cahill says the Department will pay the grants as early as possible to ensure the works are completed by the beginning of the next academic year.
