Tipperary town soccer club St Michaels will be seeking their 4th victory in the FAI Junior Cup Final when they take on Clare team Newmarket Celtic in this year’s final.

The fixture has now been confirmed for Jackman Park in Limerick city – the Limerick District League ground is located close to Colbert Railway station. The match is to be played on Saturday April 29th with a 5pm kick off.

St Michael’s defeated Gorey Rangers in an exciting semi-final, winning 2 – 1, thanks in large part to two second half penalties.

Newmarket Celtic qualified for the final by defeating Ballynanty Rovers also on a 2 – 1 scoreline.

This is the Clare sides first ever appearance in the final.

The FAI Junior Cup competition began in 1923 and has been held every year except for 1942 and 2021.

St Michael’s victories were in 1974, 2014 and most recently in 2019.
