The South Tipperary Hospice Movement(STHM) and the HSE are to collaborate to provide enhanced Palliative Care services to the people of South Tipperary/West Waterford. It emerged today that, since the 17th April 2023 the nursing service is funded and managed by the HSE.

This change is expected to enable the STHM to provide and extend the services offered to patients and their families such as:

Financial support towards the provision of community based palliative care beds

Enhanced bereavement services

Complementary therapies

Development of a voluntary driver scheme to assist patients requiring treatments

Current provision of office space, education, administration and operational support for nursing service

Ann Guida, Spokesperson for South Tipperary Hospice Movement says there will be no change as to the services offered, only enhancements.  The office remains open, the nurses and administrative staff will continue to operate from the existing HQ at The Quay, Clonmel with no change to contact details.

The South Tipperary Hospice Movement has been providing palliative care services in the home, nursing homes and District Hospitals since 1991 funded mainly by the public.
