Tipperary town Scouts have launched a novel fundraising idea – the scouts are undertaking a virtual walk to Parthenay in France. The fundraiser is to help purchase scouting equipment for the Tipperary den and has a target of raising €5,000.
Tipperary town has been twinned with Parthenay in France since 1994 and over the years bonds of friendships have developed and because of this the decision was made to make the virtual journey there, a distance of 1,556.4km (967.1 miles).
All members of 10th Tipperary Town Scouts will be taking part individually in running, walking, skipping, crawling a distance with a final hike up the Galtee Mountains collectively as a group to mark the end of the journey – possibly celebrating with a feast of French foods!!
Donations can be made on the Gofundme platform at the link found here.
