Senator Garret Ahearn has appealed to the Justice Minister to find a way to progress the construction of a new Garda Station in Clonmel. The Senator says it is unacceptable to have the project delayed. The Project was granted planning permission in 2021 but is being delivered as a Public Private partnership that also involves a Garda station in Macroom and a new Family court building in Dublin. The Senator says it has been 8 years since it was announced with little progress since then.

The Taoiseach has set up an interdepartmental group to examine if the project can be made a standalone project allowing construction to begin immediately as the other projects are delayed.  Justice Minister Simon Harris says these discussions have to be completed before any decision is made to make the Clonmel Garda station a standalone project.
