Independent Cllr Queries Delays To EV Charger Installation In Thurles

Thurles councillor Jim Ryan queried the delay in the installation of Electric Vehicle charging points in two Thurles car parks at the January MD meeting. The EV points were to be included in the expanded  Slievenamon Road carpark which is now in operation.  In addition, the Parnell Street Car park was upgraded last year and 4 EV points were to be installed.

Tipperary County Council Roads engineer Tom Duffy says the delay is due to a slow response by ESB Networks and the work is in a queue but no date for installation is available as of now. The application was submitted to ESB networks in May 2022. Cllr Micheal Lowry joked that the Council should contact Minister Eamon Ryan to put pressure on ESB Networks to deliver the necessary connection.
