Final preparations are being made for a Mass of Thanksgiving and Farewell at the Friary in Clonmel. The Church will close on January 6th after being in operation for almost 800 years – it was first built in 1260. The final Mass will be held at 11.30am on Friday which is also the Feast of the Epiphany. The Thanksgiving service will be led by Fr Aidan McGrath.

The future use of the property owned by the Franciscans which includes an adjacent property has yet to be determined. Members of the Clonmel Borough Council have suggested that the Council acquire the property located in the town centre and identify a future use for the building.
