The “Back in Five” Campaign will be in Tipperary Town Today. 10 parking spaces on Main Street will be occupied for the protest which will run from 11am to noon. Garda have blocked off the spaces for now.

The campaign is a collaboration involving the Irish Wheelchair Association, HSE, Tipperary County Council, An Garda Síochána and local Chambers of Commerce. This event supports the proper use of disability parking bays and blue badges.

Organisers will place wheelchairs and mobility aids in the parking spaces with notes attached reading “back in five” or “just running to the bank”. The campaign aims to show how frustrating it can be for someone when “their”space is occupied illegally by someone else.  The campaign took place in Carrick on Suir, Cashel, Clonmel and Cahir earlier this week and has garnered a hugely positive public response.
