A weather alert issued by Met Eireann has prompted gardaí locally to appeal to people to exercise extreme caution when driving.
Rainfall of between 60 to 90 millimetres is expected for coastal and mountainous areas tonight and through the weekend.
Strong winds are also forecast.
As a result there may be some spot flooding on roads tonight.
