€282,000 in funding is to be granted for the repair and conservation of 51 buildings and structures across North and South Tipperary.

The funding is being provided under the Built Heritage Jobs Leverage Scheme 2014. The scheme which is funded from the National Lottery License transaction, will oversee the construction and repair of 618 historic structures across the county.

The public funds provided will be matched by private funding and the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht estimate that the €5million BHJLS will unlock €16 million in private funding for these projects.

€141,000 is being provided in total for South Tipperary with the same amount allocated for North Tipperary

Among the projects chosen for funding in Co Tipperary is St Mary’s Church on Church Street in Tipperary Town which is being allocated €2,500

€14,800 has also being allocated towards roof repairs on the Cathedral of St John the Baptist which is located in Cashel.

The funding has being welcomed by Tom Hayes.
