Gridlink Submission Closing Date

The deadline for public submissions on the Gridlink Project expires today. Controversy and criticism, however, continues amid increased concerns regarding the health and safety issues surrounding the erection of the proposed pylons.

The Minister for Jobs, Richard Burton, has stated that the Gridlink development, which will stretch from Cork to Wexford, is crucial for job creation.

The controversial project would see the erection of hundreds of kilometres of overhead powerlines suspended by pylons in the south-east of the country.

Protesting parties are voicing their concern about the potential impact of the pylons on general health, the environment and property prices.
