Two councillors from County Tipperary have said today that they believe the public would suffer from the abolition of town councils.
It has recently been suggested that a number of town councils in Tipperary would be abolished as part of local government reforms.
However, speaking on Tipperary Mid West Radio, Templemore Town Councillor Jim O’Shea and Tipperary Town Councillor, Billy Bourke said they believe that if town councils are scrapped it would be a further attack on rural communities.
Cllr. O’Shea appealed to the public not to allow rural Ireland to be further downgraded.
