Proposed Closure of Cluain Arran Welfare Home

The result of a High Court case taken against the HSE over the proposed closure of a nursing home in Abbeyleix could have implications for the Cluain Arran Welfare Home in Tipperary Town.

This was stated by Fine Gael Deputy Tom Hayes (FG) when asked if a decision on the future of the County Tipperary unit was being delayed until a finding was made in the case on the Abbeyleix Community Nursing Unit.

There are concerns that Cluain Arran in Tipperary Town is marked for closure as part of spending cuts being imposed by the government.  In the meantime the HSE has since quashed the proposed order to close the Abbeyleix facility.
