SUMMER SCORCHER ON THE CARDS?

(18 May 2011) Paddy Power have slashed the odds on 2011 going down in history as the hottest summer on record in both the UK and Ireland on the back of meteorologist warnings that a severe drought is on its way!

1976 currently holds the record for the hottest summer in the UK since records began while Kilkenny holds the Irish record high after the mercury rose to 33.3 degrees Celsius on 26 June 1887.

Paddy Power are quoting just 3/1 that 2011 will smash the record in the UK and just 7/2 that Ireland will record an all time scorcher this summer!

The odds on water restrictions being put in place in the capital are just 8/11 while it’s just 2/1 that the UK are forced to have a hosepipe ban.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “They say ‘be careful what you wish for because you might just get it!&rs quo; Ever since the snow storms last December/January I think people have been wishing for a long dry spell, however it looks like they may have wished too hard!”
