The President and Taoiseach have led the tributes following the death of Clonmel woman Tras Honan.

President Higgins says Tras Honan was a proud Tipperary woman who broke many barriers in a long and distinguished career, notably as the first and only woman to be elected as Cathaoirleach of the Seanad.

Ms Honan’s  sister Carrie Acheson also served as a TD for Tipperary – Carrie Acheson died in January 2023.

Mr Martin offered his sympathies to Trás’s family, her son TV, her daughter Ann, brother Aidan and the wider Honan family.
