The Rock of Cashel is among the top ten in a list of the most popular Irish tourist attractions under the care of the Office of Public Works
The figure relates to the number of people that visited the 60 OPW sites across the country last year.
In first place is the National Botanic Gardens, while Farmleigh secured second spot. Kilmainham Gaol is in third place while the Rock takes fourth place recording 255,338 visitors in the course of 2013 taking in over €975,000 in gate receipts.
The Rock of Cashel’s income therefore covered the staffing costs incurred by the historical visitor attraction of €541,000
